How Care Net motivated their staff with the 5 am club
A few weeks ago, I ran a pilot program of Self-promotion 101, using AI ethically in Cape Town. I was blown away by how the group could build on the marketing ideas, tactics and tools and give ideas to each other. One of the stories of the staff touched everyone’s hearts, and everyone felt that Care Net must share this story to inspire others around their culture.
When Care Net’s staff were still working from home, their CEO, Barteld Bakker, rolled out a 5 am club for his employees. It was a voluntary program, but it required them to be accountable to each other for a year. How it worked: They received a book and had to do a monthly book report. They all woke up at 5 am and had access to various Meditation apps. They were encouraged to exercise, eat healthily and move more. This was at a time when people were disconnected and working from home. And yet, because they had regular check-ins on their activities, the staff motivation catapulted. They used gamification, and at the end of this program, the winner who had lost the most weight won a trip to Mauritius.
How can positive stories about working with your staff enhance your company’s reputation?

How creating a culture of excellence can enhance staff engagement.
On 5-7 June, I ran a 3-day Women in a Leadership program in Dubai. And something struck me. The women selected to come on this course were focused on getting the most out of the 3 days and were chasing excellence in everything they did.
Arriving at the event, they had done all of their prep work. After day 1, three stayed behind to recap the day and share notes and insights before going out for dinner. On the final day, they all summarised their course findings and presented them as part of the public speaking segment. I was impressed with how much care they took in writing their scripts and converting them into talks.
Very often, I’ve had delegates who do none of the prep work and then attempt to “wing” their final presentation. Perhaps because they have a growth mindset, they all created an environment where everyone wanted to do their best every day.
If you create a culture of excellence at work, your team will compete and create a tribe that cheers its others on to bring their best to work.

The experience with Yoke was very rewarding and interesting. We had a 3-day course and her pragmatic and practical methods are still the best.I particularly liked the structure of the different themes. The lessons were very fluid, coherent and above all necessary.
